New Cover Alert: Lover Reborn by J.R. Ward

Wow, I did not expect the cover for Lover Reborn to be released this early! But hey, I'm not complaining. However, I'm not thrilled with the orange and the guy on the cover is not how I pictured Tohr at all. I guess that sounds like complaining, doesn't it? I was hoping for someone more rugged. I think this would be better if there was less face and more chest/abs.

I have all my fingers and toes crossed that this book will live up to hype. Lover Unleashed was a huge disappointment for me. Why oh why does March 27th have to a be a gazillion days away?!?

Update: Word around the blogosphere is that this may not be the final cover for Lover Reborn but just a prototype. I'm hoping this is true because Tohr is just not an orange kind of guy.

New Cover Alert: Taking A Shot by Jaci Burton (And it's a HOT one!)

Holy abs Batman! Give me a few seconds to cool down here *fans herself*. That is just one smokin' hot cover. I have to say, I think it's even more delicious than The Perfect Play (Play by Play #1) and Changing the Game (Play by Play #2), if that even is possible. This cover makes my hockey loving heart go pitter-patter. Gosh, if more hockey players looked like this, I'd never change the channel from TSN! Score another win for Jaci Burton in the hot cover category.

Taking A Shot is set to be released March 6, 2012. Check out my review for The Perfect Play HERE.

Taking a Shot (Play by Play, #3)

If you want to score, you have to get in the game...

The last thing Jenna Riley needs is more sports in her life. While her brothers are off being athletic superstars, she’s stuck running the family’s sports bar, whether she likes it or not. Then in walks pro hockey stud Tyler Anderson. As much as Jenna would like to go to the boards with him, she’s vowed to never fall for a jock—even one as hot as Ty.

Ty, intrigued by the beautiful bar owner, becomes a regular. He senses that Jenna wants to do something more with her life. And as he gains her trust, the passion between them grows, as does Ty’s insistence that Jenna should start living for herself. With his encouragement, Jenna starts to believe it, too…

But first, Jenna has to figure out what she wants, what she needs, who she loves, and if she has the passion and pride to take a shot at having it all—including Ty…

And here are the covers for the other books in Burton's Play by Play series so you can judge the hotness factor for yourself.

New Cover Alert: Adam by Jacquelyn Frank

I'm so happy to see that Jacquelyn Frank is returning to the Nightwalkers series! How she stayed away from those luscious demons, I'll never know. While I don't remember there being a character named Adam in the books, I certainly remember Jasmine. I can't wait to read her story and I have say it's about damn time Ms. Frank returns to, in my opinion, her best series! Adam (Nightwalkers #6) is out October 25, 2011.

Hunted by magic, beset by evil, the Nightwalkers face their darkest hour yet. And when the unthinkable happens, only one legendary male has the power, the will, to save them: Adam…

For 400 Years He Was Lost To Her, But He Is Hers Tonight…

From their first tantalizing touch, Jasmine knows he is different. What other lover could unlock her tight control, flood vampire senses jaded by a lifetime of decadent self indulgence? Centuries ago, when he disappeared without a trace, she had given up hope of ever fulfilling the promise of incomparable passion. But here he is, against the very laws of nature, ready to bring down their most vicious enemy, ready to bring her blood to the boiling point…if she will only let him.

Pleasure rules the night.

New Cover Alert: Heart of Steel by Meljean Brook

Although the cover for Meljean Brook's Heart of Steel (The Iron Seas #2) was posted awhile ago, it looks like it has undergone some revisions. While it isn't a huge change, I have to say I like the background a lot more. The image of the clouds and air balloon gives the book more steampunk edge. After absolutely falling in love with the first Iron Seas novel, The Iron Duke, I can't wait to get my hands on this one. Unfortunatly, Heart of Steel isn't scheduled for release until November, 2011. BOO!  If you've never read a steampunk romance before, I definitely recommend you start with The Iron Duke.

Check out Meljean's blog to read the jacket copy for Heart of Steel!
Update: Apparently the 'old cover' wasn't the actual cover but just a picture used in the publisher's catalog. Jeeze, don't they know that once a cover like picture is posted anywhere on the web that the blogosphere will jump all over it? Anywho, the 'new cover' is the real cover for Heart of Steel.

New Cover Alert: Darker After Midnight by Lara Adrian

I woke up this morning to find this little nugget in my inbox! Darker After Midnight is the long anticipated story of Sterling Chase or Harvard as he is affectionately called by the other members of the Order. There is not a lot of info available about Darker After Midnight just yet, however, the book will be the first Midnight Breed novel to be published in hardcover. After Chase going a little crazy in the last book, I can't wait for him to get his HEA...FINALLY! Darker After Midnight is slated to be released on January 24, 2011.

In other Lara Adrian news, it looks like the Midnight Breed series won't be ending anytime soon with Lara signing on to write another two Breed books. Also, according to her newsletter, there will be an e-book novella available later this year. However, much to the fans dismay, the novella will not be featuring Gideon and Savannah's story, although Adrian has promised that she will tell there story in the future. Sure Lara, I'll believe it when I read it...

New Cover Alert: Yours to Keep by Shannon Stacey

Shannon Stacey just posted the cover for the third book in her Kowalski series on her blog. Yours to Keep features Sean Kowalski, who I cannot for the life of me remember hearing about in the other two books. Oh well, as long as he is like his cousins, I'll be satisfied. Those Kowalski men are sweethearts. Can't wait to read this! Yours to Keep comes out June 6th through Carina Press. CLICK HERE to read an excerpt from the book.
Sean Kowalski no sooner leaves the army than he’s recruited by Emma Shaw to be her fake fiancé. Emma needs to produce a husband-to-be for her grandmother’s upcoming visit, and, though Sean doesn’t like the deception, he could use the landscaping job Emma’s offering while he decides what to do with his civilian life. And, despite his attraction to Emma, there’s no chance he’ll fall for a woman with deep roots in a town he’s not planning to call home.

Emma’s not interested in a real relationship either; not with a man whose idea of home is wherever he drops his duffel bag. No matter how amazing his “pretend” kisses are…

New Cover Alert: Fate's Edge by Ilona Andrews

Fate's Edge

Ilona Andrews revealed the cover for the third book in The Edge series on her blog today, which happens to be one of my favorite author blogs btw. Her and her husband Gordon, who is also her writing partner, have the funniest little stories to share. Definitely check it out! According to Amazon, Fate's Edge is slated to be released on November 29, 2011. I read the first book in the series and really enjoyed it. However, the second book remains sitting in my TBR pile...along with the Kate Daniels series. Yes I know, shame on me for not reading the Kate Daniels books yet. I swear I'll get to them soonish.

Check out Ilona's blog to read a snippet from Fate's Edge!

New Cover Alert: Chasin' Eight by Lorelei James

I have lots of love for Lorelei James and her Rough Riders series. As I have said before, she is my favorite contemporary romance/erotica author. Her McKay men are just to die for.

Although there isn't a lot of information available on Chasin' Eight, it features Chase McKay who makes a small appearance in Cowgirls Don't Cry. I believe in that book Chase is described as the rodeo stud who has a different buckle bunny in every city. Sounds promising!

Chasin' Eight is out June 30, 2011.

New Cover Alert: Lord of the Vampires by Gena Showalter

Lord of the Vampires (Royal House of Shadows, #1)

Apparently capes are the new it accessory in book covers these days (ex. Never Again by Michelle Bardsley). While capes have the potential to be very cheesy and cartoonish, I think the cover for Lord of the Vampires does the cape justice. Also, the horse design in the background is interesting, although I have no idea what horses have to do with vampires. Perhaps there will be a vampire horse in the book?

I have to give my stamp of approval to this cover because it's so different from other Harlequin Nocturne books. I'm glad Harlequin has decided to do away with the garish purple banner at the top because it only served as a distraction. Bravo Harlequin!

Lord of the Vampires is the first book in a 4 author series. The other authors include Jill Monroe, Jessica Andersen and Nalini Singh. Lord of the Vampires comes out September 2011.

Once upon a time…the Blood Sorcerer vanquished the kingdom of Elden.  To save their children, the queen scattered them to safety and the king filled them with a need for vengeance. Only a magical timepiece connects the four royal heirs…and time is running out.

Nicolai the Vampire is renowned for his virility, but in a cruel twist of fate “The Dark Seducer” has become a sex slave in the kingdom of Delfina—stripped of his precious timepiece and his memory. All that remains is a primal need for freedom, revenge—and the only woman who can help him.

When the wanton vampire summons Jane Parker, she is helpless to obey.  She's drawn to his dark sexuality and into his magical realm.  But for this human, all is not a fairy tale.  For saving Nicolai could mean losing the only man she's ever craved...

Steamin' Hot New Cover: The Dragon Who Loved Me by G.A. Aiken

I heart G.A. Aiken's (Shelly Laurenston) Dragon Kin series. Her books are absolutely hilarious without being too cheesy. However, Aiken/Laurenston's book covers tend to be a little underwhelming and I'm afraid that the cover for The Dragon Who Loved Me falls into that category. I appreciate a nice sculpted back, but the dude's muscles just seem weird to me. All I see is some kind of creature staring at me. Ick!
Bad cover or not, I want this book like NOW. Unfortunately, we have to wait until September 6th. BOO!
Click HERE to read an excerpt.
I was raised for battle. And as the first daughter of a warrior family, I’ve earned my reputation the hard way. Yet now I fight alongside uncivilized male Northland dragons who think a female is only good for breeding and waiting back home in the cave. But it’s the foolish and foolhardy who would try to stop me, Rhona the Fearless, from doing what I do best—destroying the enemies of my kind.

So the smartest thing wily barbarian Vigholf the Abhorrent can do for me is stay out of my way as we risk all on a deadly mission in enemy territory. I don’t care if he’s fascinated by me, even though he is as attractive as he is resourceful. He’s having far too much fun putting me in difficult situations and testing my sense of duty to the limit. And I’m going to enjoy challenging his insufferable confidence, outwitting his schemes, and making him surrender in the wildest ways…

Steamin' Hot New Cover: The Darkest Surrender

OMG! How great is this cover? The golden tones really pop and it fits well with the rest of the LOTU books. And can we talk about the abs here? YUMMY. Two thumbs waaaaay up!
The Darkest Surrender comes out October 2011.
The Lords of the Underworld return in this enthralling tale of an immortal warrior determined to win and the beautiful seductress he can’t resist.
Possessed by the demon of Defeat, Strider cannot lose a challenge without suffering unimaginable pain.  For him, nothing stands in the way of victory.  Until Kaia, an enchanting Harpy, tempts him to the razor’s edge of surrender.

Known among her people as The Disappointment, Kaia must bring home the gold in the Harpy Games or die.  Strider is a distraction she can’t afford because he as an agenda of his own – steal first prize, an ancient godly artifact, before the winner can be named.  But as the competition heats up, only one prize will matter – the love neither had thought possible…

Steamin' Hot New Cover(s): Dark Angels series

When I first started reading more "adult" books a few summers ago, Keri Arthur's Riley Jenson novels were some of the first romance/urban fantasy books I read. Although I haven't finished the Riley Jenson series as of yet (my bad), I'm looking forward to Arthur's new spin-off series featuring Risa Jones.

While there isn't a lot of information available about the books, here's a little blurb from Arthur about the Dark Angels series:

Next up is Risa’s series. Risa is Dia’s little girl in Riley’s series, and now she’s getting her own. This one will explore the Aedh (the race Quinn and Risa come from) as well as reapers and demons. There will still be vamps, werewolves and shifters, as it’s set in the same world, but they just won’t be as front and center as they were in Riley’s series.
Darkness Unbound - September 27, 2011
Risa Jones is as extraordinary as her heritage. Born from a lab-enhanced clone mother and an Aedh father, she can not only talk to the souls of the dying and the dead, but she can see the reapers and walk the gray fields that divide this world from the next.
They are skill she rarely uses, however, preferring to concentrate on the business she shares with her two best friends. But when her mother asks her to help the parents of a little girl locked in a coma, she reluctantly agrees. What she discovers scares the hell out of her. Because the little girl’s soul no longer resides in her body, and it wasn’t death and the reapers that took her. Someone had ripped her soul from her flesh.
As it turns out, a creature consuming the souls of the innocent–and not so innocent–is the least of her problems.

Because someone wants to rip open the gates that divided hell from earth, and Risa is a key component in their plans. And the only person standing between her and disaster is a reaper who isn’t exactly on her side.

Darkness Rising - TBA

Steamin' Hot New Cover(s): Highlander Series by Maya Banks

Maya Banks is well known for her steamin' hot contemporary romance and erotica books, but this fall she is delving into the world of the Highlander! Scottish historical romances are my guilty pleasure (Karen Marie Moning anyone?). There is just something about a guy in a kilt that makes me swoon.  I can't wait to see what Banks will bring to the Highlands!

In Bed with a Highlander - September, 2011

Maya's beguiling new trilogy features three unforgettable brothers risking everything to save their clan and their legacy—and surrender their hearts to love.
Ewan McCabe, the eldest, is a warrior determined to vanquish his enemy. Now, with the time ripe for battle, his men are ready and Ewan is poised to take back what is his—until a blue-eyed, raven-haired temptress is thrust upon him. Mairin may be the salvation of Ewan’s clan, but for a man who dreams only of revenge, matters of the heart are strange territory to conquer.

Though the illegitimate daughter of the king, Mairin possesses prized property that has made her a pawn—and wary of love. Her worst fears are realized when she is rescued from peril, only to be forced into marriage by her charismatic and commanding savior, Ewan McCabe. But her attraction to her ruggedly powerful new husband finds her craving his surprisingly tender touch; her body comes alive under his sensual mastery. And as war draws near, Mairin’s strength, spirit, and passion challenge Ewan to conquer his demons—and embrace a love that means more than revenge and land.

Seduction of a Highland Lass - October, 2011

A warrior is caught between family loyalty and forbidden love in book two of Maya's sensual new trilogy featuring three indomitable Highlanders.

Fiercely loyal to his elder brother, Alaric McCabe leads his clan in the fight for their birthright. Now, he is prepared to wed for duty, as well. But on his way to claim the hand of Rionna McDonald, daughter of a neighboring chieftain, he is ambushed and left for dead. Miraculously, his life is saved by the soft touch of a Highland angel, a courageous beauty who will put his fealty to his clan, his honor, and his deepest desires, to the test.

An outcast from her own clan, Keeley McDonald was betrayed by those she loved and trusted. When the wounded warrior falls from his horse, she is drawn to his strong, lean body. The wicked glint in his green eyes ignites a passion that will follow them back to Alaric’s keep, where their forbidden love draws them deeper into the pleasures of the flesh. But as conspiracy and danger circle closer, Alaric must make an impossible choice. Will he betray his blood ties for the woman he loves?

Never Love a Highlander - November, 2011

In a tale of strong ties and true love, Maya’s trilogy comes to its stunning conclusion, as the youngest McCabe brother uses sword and seduction to save his clan—and seal his heart.

Caelen McCabe’s young, reckless heart nearly destroyed his clan. Now putting family loyalty above all else, he steps up to marry his older brother’s jilted bride and salvage the uneasy alliance between two clans. While beautiful Rionna McDonald is a fit wife for any man, Caelen trusts no woman, especially not this sweet temptress who torments him with white hot longing.

As the sacrificial lamb in her father’s power game, Rionna will do her duty but protect her heart and her pride from another man’s humiliation. Despite everything, the heat in Caelen’s touch melts her defenses and she craves the sensual delights of a husband who guards his emotions as fiercely as his clan. But when the ultimate battle for the McCabe legacy is upon them, Rionna’s true warrior spirit emerges. She will risk the wrath of her father, the fury of her enemies, and her life to prove to Caelen that his wife’s love is too precious to lose.

Steamin' Hot New Cover: The Heart of A Killer by Jaci Burton

I like it, BUT...
I feel like Jaci Burton did a disservice to herself by having such a smokin' hot cover for The Perfect Play. Really, nothing can compare to that gem of a cover.

However, The Heart of A Killer still gets two thumbs up from me. I think it captures the romantic suspense theme perfectly. Unfortunately, the book doesn't come out until November, 2011. BOO!

No one said coming home would be easy. But for Dante Renaldi, it’s murder.
Before the Special Forces hero has even unpacked his bags from twelve years of active duty, he’s embroiled in murder—corpses bearing the brutal trademark he’s seen only once before—on the worst night of his life.

The last time Detective Anna Pallino saw Dante Renaldi, they were in love. Now, he’s part of the connection to a string of fresh homicides and a horrible assault Anna only survived thanks to him.

More than anything, Anna wants to trust Dante. But as the bodies and the coincidences stack up, Anna will have to decide, and fast: Is the man she owes her life to the very same one who wants her dead?

Steamin' Hot New Cover: Bloodlines by Richelle Mead

I'm not a huge YA fan, but I do love Richelle Mead's Vampire Academy series. Well, I guess I should say I did love it since it is over now. BOO. However, I am exited for the new spin-off coming out August 23, 2011!

Here is some info:

"Bloodlines will be a spin-off of VA, moving the previously tertiary character Sydney, a human alchemist, from the sidelines to the forefront. It will also be set in a sunny Californian high school instead of that rigid, preppy-bloodsucker academy."

My thoughts...

The cover is kinda boring, but so were the covers of the VA books. Also, the girl looks nothing like how I pictured Sydney. I'm so hoping that we will get to see lots of Adrian in this spin-off series. Fingers-crossed!

Steamin' Hot New Cover: Never Enough by Lauren Dane

I like it, BUT...
all the elements don't mesh well. Know what I mean? I think it is the over digitized background and the weird shading. However, the guy is almost exactly how I pictured Adrian. YUMMY!

Never Enough is out September 2011.

ALL THE RIGHT NOTES…

Gillian Forrester spent most of her life running from who and what she came from. Until Miles came along. From the moment she held the tiny newborn her older sister didn’t want, Gillian stopped running and began to build a life for herself and her adopted son. Now, thirteen years later, as Gillian’s sister lay dying, she reveals the father’s identity and makes Gillian promise to find him.

Adrian Brown is the epitome of the successful rock star. He’s seen and done it all, with few regrets. It takes a lot to shock him—but the bombshell that he has a thirteen-year-old son rocks his world. And Adrian is even more surprised when the buttoned-up, elegant woman who’s raising Miles snags his erotic and romantic attention.

The last thing Gillian expected was to find herself getting hot and heavy with a person like Adrian. But as much as she wants to open up and give herself fully to this amazing man, she’s afraid the secrets of her past and Adrian’s problems with trusting people may keep them apart for good. If love isn’t enough can they find the trust they need?

New Cover Alert: Demon by Kristina Douglas

Despite Raziel not being released until January 25th, the cover for the second book in Douglas' all new series, The Fallen, has been posted. And like Raziel, Demon looks promising. Hot fallen angels? Sounds good to me.

I'm really hoping this series delivers. There is nothing more disappointing then a book with a great cover, but less than stellar story inside. I'm also ecstatic that angels appear to be the new fad in romance. There is only so much you can do with vampires after all.

Demon has a release date May 31, 2011.

"One of the first Fallen, Azazel is second in power only to Lucifer. And with the activation of a prophecy binding him in marriage to the Demon Queen, Lilith, he’ll be even stronger. But Azazel doesn’t want the power. After the death of his beloved mate, Sarah, he wanders the earth a lost soul, broken and disheartened. That is, until he decides to take matters into his own hands, to find the one woman who could take Sarah’s place as his wife…so he can kill her."

New Cover Alert: Dark Taste of Rapture by Gena Showalter

2011 hasn't even started yet and there is already a contender for the best cover of the year! Gena Showalter has had some great book covers in the past, but the brand new cover for Dark Taste of Rapture is stunning. I love the gold, the fluttering hair, and the six pack. Two thumbs way up for this one.

Dark Taste of Rapture is the 6th book in Showalter's Alien Huntress series and features Noelle Tremain and Hector Dean. It's out August 23, 2011.

"Beautiful Noelle Tremain has just completed AIR training and successfully navigated her first mission. Life is perfect.  Until her best friend is turned into a vampire, destroying her day life, and she’s partnered with Hector Dean, destroying her nightlife.  He’s the sexiest, most powerful man she’s ever met, able to atomize his arms and punch through anything – but he’s also emotionally distanced, determined to remain alone. So, to stay on top of their case, she might just have to find a way on top of him.
Oh, the naughty things a girl will do for her job . . . "

New Cover Alert: Lover Unleashed by J.R. Ward

It's about darn time! I love this cover. LOVE LOVE LOVE it. The color really makes Payne's diamond eyes standout. I wonder how Manny's going to measure up to the rest of the Brothers. He's got some big shitkickers to fill! Uhh, why is March so far away?!?

Lover Unleashed is book #9 in J.R. Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood series and will be released March 29th, 2011.

New Cover Alert: Magic Slays by Ilona Andrews

I was just thinking about this series the other day. Coincidence? Maybe if I think really hard about The Black Dagger Brotherhood the Warden will release the cover for Lover Unleashed too!
On my blog, I have a poll on your left-hand side where you can vote for what I should read next and currently this series is first (thanks to the 4 people who have voted so far!). I keep reading reviews and hearing people talk about how great Kate Daniels is and I'm feeling like I'm totally missing out. Hopefully during Christmas break I'll have the chance to read this series. I want to learn more about this Curran fellow! He looks delicious. Like a nice warm caramal machiatto on a chilly winter's morning, haha. Mmm, I'm gonig to have to make a Starbucks run today. Yum. Magic Slays is out May 31, 2011. Sadly there is no blurb out yet.
